Little Black Dress Two Ways

So!

You're going to a wedding!  There's going to be a long enough time hole in between ceremony and reception that tempts you to have TWO OUTFITS.  Why do we feel tempted to wear one thing to the ceremony, and another outfit to the reception?

Honestly --  WHO CARES???

And yet, we are women, and wearing the same thing all day, as vain and pathetic as it sounds, is BOR-ING.

But, who feels like getting changed in between?  Who feels like forking out the dough to buy TWO outfits that you'll only wear once?

WHAT IF YOU JUST BOUGHT TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF SUPER DUPER FUN ACCESSORIES?

After all, that little black dress is really cute, but it's not that exciting. It's a wardrobe stable, and it's a veritable CANVAS for all the crap you're going to adorn yourself with!

HMM?  HMMMMM?

HOORAY!

DAYTIME

You wear:

NIGHTTIME

You whip off to your hotel room to fluff that hair up huge, and make it SEXY DISCO.

♥ little black handbag with blinga-blinga
♥ orgasmically sparkly shoes ~ Nine West

It's  NIGHT TIME and it's time to take it over the top!

  1. How bloody gorgeous are you? I love it when you do an outfit post!
You look great In a frock, you should wear them more often. And such sexy shoes! And tousled bed head hair! Phooaarrr!
So do we get to see any film footage of you singing, dancing, or any inappropriate drunk-at-a-wedding behaviour? I do hope so! How is Ella, is she better? xxxx

    1. thanks Curtise. I actually enjoyed wearing a dress this time for the first time in years, and that's probably because I've dropped two sizes.

I didn't have any inappropriate wedding moments (damn), but there is some footage somewhere of me doing drunken karaoke at my inlaws.

  2. Wow! You look amazing!

Sometimes I feel like I need to plan these things a bit better, as opposed to slowly drooping as the day goes on, lipstick maybe smeared across my cheek by evening, hair flattened on one side, and smelling slightly of something that MIGHT be BO, and might just be a spilled drink.

And then I remember that BAD THINGS happen when I wear heels, and for some reason it makes me feel better.

I do wish I could wear those sparkly shoes though!

    1. thanks Leauxra :)

The day at the wedding (prior to this frivolous photo shoot) was DEFINITELY a BO day. I noticed a few people smelling like BO. By some miracle I wasn't one of them.

      We all need sparkly shoes.

  3. Karen great idea. You look great in the dress both ways. I like the second look the best. I love to wear a simple dress and really go bold with the necklace. I love to find necklaces with different colors to use with different outfits.

    1. Alaina, that's fun, re; switching up the necklaces. It's the same idea basically, isn't it? Resurrecting a dress with different accessories. I didn't wear necklaces for years while the kids were really small, but I'm starting to get back into them.

  5. va-va-voom! Check out the evening look - you are how Kathleen Turner should've aged (i.e. voluptous, not scary). I love the demure daytime look too, very pretty with a hint of minx

    1. Thanks Clare! The evening look is definitely WHERE ITS AT, but that's as it should be, since the bride is the star of the ceremony.

    1. why thank you Ms. Sarah. I take your lesbian feelings as a great compliment. I'm still trying to puzzle out what LBD stands for though. I'll bet it's obvious, but I'm AN IDIOT.

  8. i totally love your shoes from the first round and your hair from the second round! i'm so jealous of your hair! mine doesn't fluff as the day goes on. it flattens and no amount of hairspray can revive it.
i am unfamiliar with this apparent trend of changing outfits between the 2 parts of a wedding. i've got one to go to in a month & now i'm thinking i'll need more clothes! thanks a lot for raising the bar to unachievable levels.

    1. You don't need new clothes, Sherilinnie--just TWO sets of accessories!! BOO YAH! But wait...aren't you in the wedding party?

I think your hair looks great though, and probably resists humidity. Honestly--that curled look doesn't last through humidity. It just turns into a giant broom/haystack/frumpy triangle.

You are beyond gorgeous and I love your blue eyes.
You should show your fab-self more often.
I am eyeing all your blingy accesories and not to mention you in that black slinky dress.
