Oh my god. Remember THIS?!?

Do you REMEMBER all the Prince protegés in the 80's?!?
Too much.

So sad everyone: "Vanity" had to quit the group in 1984, so she was replaced by Appolonia.  Come on--you remember Appolonia:

Is that not HORRID?!? Come ON! You have to watch a few seconds of it. My favourite though, of all the girls Prince "created" was Sheila E. She was so cool when she hit those drums:

She had the other girls beat, because even though she might have been wearing a teddy, she could sing AND play the drums.

Don't you miss all that lacy, lingerie CHEESE?  Oh, the 80's.

I want to know which of you had PURPLE RAIN style.

  1. I had and continue to have lots of Purple Rain style! lol
I was a hybrid of Prince/Madonna with my holey stockings and rubber band bracelets with frosted bangs and lace - lots and lots of lace.
    Oh, I loved the 80's!

  2. OK, I did not exactly have Prince "style" per se, but I had a poster of Prince hanging in my room that I drooled over every day. And I played the Purple Rain soundtrack so much that the tape snapped. I love the 80's.

  3. Girlfriend... Knew every damn word AND dance move (I've got the moves like Jagger)...

Prince? PRIIIIIIINCE! Never did I forsake you. Even when you turned your name to a symbol...and I realized you were really really short...and that you wore high heels and make-up... I loved you through it all.

    The 80s rocked!

  4. You do remember that the beautiful Vanity is from our hometown. I always remember because one of her sisters was at a pool party my parents had when I was very little and her sister was gorgeous too.

  6. Prince may be a tiny, makeup and lift wearing dude, but he always surrounds himself with a bevy of beauties, doesn't he?

    1. don't feel bad Curtise--I think they were only around for about 14 minutes. I am disappointed I'd forgotten about Sheena's stint as a PRINCE GIRL! Good for you for pointing that out!

  9. I still watch Purple Rain from time to time. I loved Prince's clothes. His purple car is at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Minneapolis.

  12. I was so busy in the 80's teaching aerobics classes to this music that I barely knew any of these but Sheila E and Prince. I did though wear the 80's well! Great post Karen.
